Ensuring we keep the human touch
Everywhere you turn in education, someone’s talking about AI – and for good reason.
From lesson planning to marking, automation promises to save time and make life easier.
But what about school communication?
We’re already seeing a quiet surge in AI-generated newsletters, reports, and updates. Smart tools can now tailor messages to parents, craft subject lines, even suggest emojis. Sounds clever… but is it making communication better?
Or just noisier?
In our work with schools across the UK, one thing is clear: what parents value most isn’t more messages – it’s feeling heard, informed, and included. That doesn’t come from an algorithm. It comes from humans who communicate with empathy, clarity and intent.
AI can be helpful – especially for reducing admin – but it can’t build trust on its own. And if we’re not careful, we risk replacing real engagement with a stream of auto-generated noise.
With parental partnership now a hot topic in Ofsted reports, and the sector under more pressure than ever to show impact, now’s the time to rethink our approach. Let’s use tech wisely – but keep the connection human.
